Cindy Saadeh
Owner of the gallery, Cindy is also an oil painter who got her start as an apprentice to a self-taught French artist Richard Palomino, or Lilla Duva. In Montpellier, France she was classically trained in making paint, mediums, brushes and painting in a layering style based on Old Master techniques.
She has found her voice in a more painterly style but still maintains the importance of learning classically as a good foundation.
Her work is featured in public and private collections in the US and internationally.

The following works are included in the exhibition "Metamorphosis". I chose this title for several reasons--this technique is completely new for me--begun during a workshop I took with Lisa Boardwine, a well recognized artist in the oil and cold wax method of painting. I had not painted in about 2 years so this was a great chance to dust off the easel and try something new. I fell in love with this departure from my standard oil painting. I love being able to incorporate different textures and add layer upon layer, not exactly knowing what will happen next. This is the first time I had ever attempted abstract painting and I found it so interesting how the painting would evolve sort of on it's own. It's hard to explain, but Lisa said it, and I found it to be true. So for me personally, this painting style has been a huge change and a stretch outside the comfort zone.
This workshop took place in February of 2020, just before the world changed. As I continued to create in this style during quarantine, it became a sort of therapy--a way to express my feelings on our environmental impact, as well as what I was seeing as a small silver lining in what was happening with the great slow down--the earth could breathe again. In many ways the world and it's people have changed, and will continue to change--it is my hope in a positive way. Metamorphosis happens.
15% of proceeds from this body of work will go to United Way of Kingsport for their Covid Relief initiative--helping keep non-profits going by assisting with their operating expenses. You may visit the gallery during open hours or purchase online and pick up or have shipped to your door. Thank you for taking a look.
