Mary McKinley
Mary's abstract paintings are mesmerizing combinations of light, color, texture, and a curious spontaneity. Although these are purely abstract paintings, they tend to evoke elements of wildlife and nature. There is something new and exciting to be found with each contemplation.
Her Sky Paintings are a voyage between earth and sky through an ethereal and transporting light. This light seems to glow from within creating a serene, yet vibrant scene. They evoke a sense of travel, wonder, and reflection. In her traditional paintings, she looks to the Old Masters of the Renaissance for skills and technique. In all her paintings, her intention is to express a delicate balance between rapture, harmony, and a sense of awe similar to what one experiences in observing the forces of nature or by basking in a warm, glowing light.
Mary currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina and Cortona, Tuscany
