From Appalachia’s influences … the lines of the landscape, the colors of the seasons, the patterns, and designs from a grandmother’s quilted fabric and thread stories…from the creativity of a mother’s imagination and her encouragement… a hunger for art’s expression and its disciplines began Renee’s art journey. This desire to learn and grow as an artist led to a formal education with a Master’s in art from ETSU. She retired as an art educator for both public and private high schools, having taught at Science Hill High School, Brentwood Academy and Dobyns’-Bennett High School. Renee is an award-winning artist who enjoys the mediums of watercolor, oils, mixed media, and art quilting. Being in nature and plein air painting is one of her greatest passions as an artist and she enjoys painting from her studio in the beautiful countryside and in the shadow of the Holston Mountain in Bluff City. She continues her own education through classes and workshops with nationally and internationally known artists, always seeking to grow in her chosen mediums and disciplines. It is a privilege for her to connect her own art pursuit with those who view and purchase her work and those who take her classes and workshops (conducted online and in person) providing ways for her to share her art in a more personal way.
